We are located on the beautiful bayside - just south of Brisbane and have permanent sessions of pickleball each week at Ormiston State School.
There are limited numbers. Financial members of the club get first priority.
Spare places are made available for non-club members.
Our main venue at Ormiston State School now has four covered outdoor courts with lighting.
There are another four indoor courts.
The club is going from strength to strength but the atmosphere is very casual and friendly.
Pickleball is like tennis on a smaller scale but played with hard paddles and a plastic ball. It is a low-impact sport that is easy to learn and play at almost any age. Pickleball was introduced to Australia in 2017 and is our fastest-growing sport.
I noticed the pickleball group on Meetup and I thought it was something I would like to try. It’s been a wonderful experience. The pickleball players have ben so welcoming, patient and friendly. I’m really enjoying the social side and have quickly become addicted to the game. I’d love to go to the US or South America for a pickleball holiday.
Like most, I googled Pickleball and found an indoor venue in my next door suburb of Coorparoo. Went to watch and the enthusiastic welcoming players soon had me on the court. Loved the game since. Play regularly and have introduced many family and friends to Pickleball as a great social and healthy activity.
Pickleball, what else could I play that provides for my ten-year-old granddaughter and me to have fun on the court. I have played in tournaments and Championships, but I am no threat to medals, I love the healthy activity and the social nature of our Pickleball.
My first introductory session was fun and it was easier than I thought! Quite a diverse range of ages of 40-73 in our group. The instructor Mark was very helpful and patient with us and by the end of the session we were playing an actual game... Definitely coming back to play again!
